| Sep. 25th, 2007 07:13 pm oh, and i forgot. even though i don't really like gambling, i recently discovered that i like going to the track. consider these advantages over other forms of gambling (or even entertainment in general):
the people are super fucking weird. there are animals around. you can eat a$2.99 steak on Monday nights (Dante and i were prepared for the worst steak ever, but it was actually good. plus $1 sides!). you are outside. the horses have funny names... 5 comments - Leave a comment

| Sep. 25th, 2007 06:46 pm where to start. i'm moving to New York this Thursday. flying in and staying at a hotel on the companies for a little bit while looking for an apartment. i start on Monday, agh! it's going to be pretty crazy week (moving/apartment search/new job), but i'm used to living out a suitcase. i am so excited about eventually having an apartment. it's been 6 months. i feel like a hobo entering retirement.
what else. car got broken in to over the weekend and dudes took a decent chunk of my work clothes. if you see some homeless dudes in a size 11.5 BCBG velcro strap gray and black shoes, give me a hollar. i'm going to miss my summer style. you could describe it as "ship-wrecked mechanic": no shower look with a sweaty t-shirt and cut off work work shorts. say hello to sweaters and collar shirts! trying to look professional without looking like a banana republic douche is the new near-thirty challenge.
this all feels a little strange. i don't want to leave Detroit, the fam, my friends or my girlfriend, but this job is something that i just couldn't do in the midwest. looking forward to seeing everyone in New York again. ah, bittersweet! sorry i didn't get to see everyone before leaving or get everyone together or whatever. i'll be back soon on a weekend to move my stuff. 6 comments - Leave a comment

| Sep. 13th, 2007 02:18 pm new job so it looks like i will be taking a job in New York. it starts soon and they want me there by the 1st. agh! i'm starting to freak out. excited to see everyone again, but a bit ambivalent about being back in the city. i was kind of hoping to check out California for a spell and i still like Detroit. whatever though. it will be fun. i'm going to miss Leah a lot. we are going to work something out.
does anyone know of any places available? i'm looking at Long Island City currently, but i'm open to Brooklyn too. rents have like seriously doubled since 2000. i might just move all my stuff out to new york and put it in storage then search for apartments while starting the job.
below are some of the gems that i have dug up on craigslist this week. (hint: if you are looking for cheap and interesting places to live, add the word "hot plate" to your search.)
